2019-02-13
CFS 2018 ended with a blast and has even shown the possibilities of CROSSFIRE esports growth to the fans.
We interviewed with the CFS 2018 commentators Kyle and Guaika, talking about the CROSSFIRE esports and the overall feeling on the CFS 2018 tournament.
CFS esports, the new global esports brand which covers all of CROSSFIRE’s IP based game, was launched last year. What was your impression when it was announced?
Kyle: I was excited to see CROSSFIRE continue to make esports a focus for the game, and I think the new branding is well made and encompasses what CROSSFIRE esports stands for.
Guaika: CROSSFIRE is everyone’s favorite game and has also influenced me a lot in my life. CROSSFIRE fans were all excited when there was an announcement where CFS esports will cover all CF IP based games. It’s also a great chance to see all kinds of exciting matches in one tournament. I hope for a brighter future in CFS esports. Fighting!
How did you start your career as a commentator for CROSSFIRE tournaments?
Kyle: Back in 2013, I used to play in a lot of Crossfire competition in North America. One day a friend of mine asked me to start casting for ESL events, and from there it grew into something I loved doing and am thankful for having the opportunity to be a commentator for CFS events. I always enjoy getting to channel my passion and excitement into some of the greatest moments of CROSSFIRE esports. Commentating for CROSSFIRE is always enjoyable for me, and I look forward to seeing even more amazing events in the future.
Guaika: It was by chance that I started my career as a CROSSFIRE commentator. I have retired from the CROSSFIRE pro, but wanted to remain in the CROSSFIRE esports field. During that period, I received an offer as a CROSSFIRE commentator from the broadcasting platform. My colleague, Baisha and Laoshang also started their career as a commentator in the same period.
Which team do you think has continuously improved the most compared to the previous years? Which team/region are you looking forward to this year?
Kyle: I think it has been incredible to watch how good ruLegends has become in the past few years. Even though they were not able to win the finals, I still think this team has shown that they can be stronger and more successful each year. I look forward to seeing Black Dragons as well in 2019, to see if they can defend the title of CFS Champion in the New Year.
Guaika: Few of non-Chinese teams have continuously improved compared to previous years. I believe Chinese teams will learn from last year’s results and show better performance this year. I hope Chinese team can win the championship this year.
Which player would you pick as a CFS 2018 MVP? And the reason?
Kyle: I feel like for 2018 the MVP from my point of view was Wil from Black Dragons. He was always a strong player when his team needed him to make a big play and always was able to perform well under pressure.
Guaika: I think Vianna1 from Black Dragons is a great player. His actions were very impressive. Such as, praying together with his teammates before each match, being active when discussing team tactics and leading his team to the victory.
Among all the matches held during CFS 2018, which was the most unforgettable one?
Kyle: For me, the CFS 2018 final match was the most unforgettable. It was so exciting to see a new region lift the trophy and become CFS Champions. Black Dragons had an incredible performance at CFS 2018, and deserve a lot of praise for having such a great year. I look forward to the future because now there is an opportunity for other new champions to rise, now that Black Dragons have shown anyone, from any region, can become the CFS Champion.
Guaika: 3rd place match between SV and INTZ was the most unforgettable match for me. SV was losing the match by a score of 3 to 9, but stayed calm. SV turned their tables on INTZ after golden round. It was an amazing moment!
