Q9 E-Sports Club: “I wanted to take the champion trophy back to China, and I made it.“
After an intense match against VINCIT Gaming in the Grand Final Match of CFS 2020 Grand Finals, Q9 E-Sports Club has won its
first championship title since its foundation. CFS HQ had a chance to interview Q9 players after the finals.
Q. Congratulations, Solo. This championship title is your first win since 2013. You always told everyone that your goal was to
win the CFS title. How do you feel right now? Solo: It feels terrific! My teammates have done their best today. I don’t have any regret.
Q. Jwei, you made the last kill that determined Q9’s championship title. What was going through your mind at that moment? Jwei: My first thought was that I supported BEAN at the exact time. I think I took the kill right after BEAN was taken down. After the
last click, I was deeply moved.
Q. BEAN, you’ve played a great game and became the Finals MVP. If you had to grade yourself, how many points could you
give yourself? BEAN: I would give a perfect score to myself, and of course it’s based on the fact that I’m the MVP. I would like to say that everything
was worth it because we won the championship. However, our goal is not winning a championship title. Instead, our goal is just
playing the best games in every match.
Q. In the previous interview, Long said that he will bring the championship to your country. How would you rate yourself today? Long: I’ve played extremely well today. I’m really satisfied with the results.
Q:1998, it seemed that you’ve got emotional on the stage after claiming the championship. When was the hardest moment in
today’s match? 1998: The hardest moment was when we lost the final round in the regular rounds. It’s because we thought we checked the opponents
weren’t there, but we were tricked and lost that round. That was the toughest moment for me.
Q. What was the most stressful during your preparation for the match? I think there must have been a lot of difficulties during
your quarantine period. How did you overcome with it? Solo: We really had no clue during the quarantine period on what time we were going to play. We’ve set our practice time to 1:30 pm (KST),
and I woke my teammates every day. And when we started our practice, I gave useful tips to my teammates. Every afternoon we
practiced our aims, and 2 teams who were standing by in China for scrimmages helped us a lot. I really appreciate their support.
We wouldn’t have practiced properly without them.
Q. Smilegate has prepared and supported the players a lot for CFS 2020 Grand Finals. What do you think? Solo: First of all, I thank Smilegate for giving us a huge support. It was possible for us to focus more on the matches since they took really
good care of us, and they provided us what we needed. I’ve even gained 1Kg.
Q. Yazhe, who was the MVP among your teammates in today’s match? Yazhe: Everyone did extremely well. CROSSFIRE is a team game, so 1998 and Long did a great job. I’m really happy with the results.
Q. What was your family’s reaction when you started your professional career? Did they support you or wasn’t happy about it? 1998: My family gave me huge support from the start of official professional career. That’s why I could play in this circumstance. If there
wasn’t any support from my family, I wouldn’t have played this well.
Q. What words were you guys exchanging to each other when VINCIT Gaming was dominant in the second set? Bean: I was in a bad condition in that match. We were losing by big rounds, but fortunately, we were able to catch up and win in the
second half. I think you have to stand for your teammates even though you are in a bad condition, and you will also need to
stand for your teammates when they have trouble playing in a good condition. This is what a teamwork is. I think we won the
championship because we all had the same thoughts. So I want to say that all five of us did our best today, and also, China was
the best today.
Q. The Brazilian teams’ championship streak has been stopped. What made this happen in your opinion, Jwei? Jwei: I was already thinking that the Brazilians are really skilled. But we were better on playing as a team. And because the Chinese teams
have not won the championship for 2 years, I think we were able to control the pressure until the end and take the trophy back to China.
Q. You will need to be quarantined for 14 days after your arrival in China. What will be the first thing you will do after the isolation? Long: I will go home and meet my parents and family.
Q. How did Q9 prepare for the finals? I think SuperValiant Gaming’s support really helped you out really well. Solo: When we were practicing yesterday, a good friend from SuperValiant Gaming and the others gave some tips that really helped us.
However, we had to practice and be good with our own tactics. I appreciate SV and the people involved for their support. And we
were also thoroughly prepared for the finals.
Q. What is Q9’s next plan? Solo: First of all, as BEAN is a player on loan, he will go back to his organization. After getting back to China, we will do our best with
our main sniper ‘Wolf’.
Q. Which tactic did Q9 use in the last set? Solo: Bean gave his opinion that as we kept on losing the important rounds in the GR, opening the site and retake after using our utilities
would be a better option. I think we didn’t lose a single round after accepting BEAN’s opinion.
Q. Any words to the Chinese fans? Solo: I don’t think we need to divide the two Chinese teams that participated in CFS 2020 Grand Finals. I know that every fans cheered
for us and for SV, and I appreciate it. Also, I really appreciate all the blessings you sent us after the finals today. When I interviewed
that I wanted to take the champion trophy back to China, I did that hard work. I’m really happy that I did it.
Once again, congratulations Q9 E-Sports Club on becoming the champion of CFS 2020 Grand Finals!
