Pacific.Macta versus Pacific.Wara: CrossFire Stars 2015 Philippine National Finals
2016-10-11Earl Carlo Guevarra
This is one of the matches that represented a focal point in the Wara-Macta rivalry that dominated the Philippine CrossFire scene, beginning from the year 2012 up to that moment. While Pacific.Macta are young, vibrant and talented, Wara are already old and past their optimal state of power – and have only experience and strats in order to get them through their matches.
Wara wants to prove that it can still reliably fight against the best in the world despite their age, while Macta needs the win badly in order for them to pursue their dream of bringing back the championship trophy to the Philippines.
It took three maps for the champion to be crowned and once everything is settled and done, only one team stood high.
Sub Base
Sub Base is renowed for its quick rotation timings and close-quarter battles. In these terms, Sub Base is only second to Mexico, which is the smallest map in the CrossFire competitive map pool.
The match starts with both teams engaging with each other in several aim duels that pumped the crowd up. In the 5th round, Mark Cris “MACMANSHIP” Mirote got a triple kill to win the round for his team – however, it still ended in favour of Macta at 5-4. In the second half, Macta was able to dominate starting the 13th round and Wara did not have any answers as they take the map, 10-6.
Wara’s path is almost finished.
Mexico
Mexico a very small map that allows extremely fast rotation and flank timings.
However, Wara showed that they still have an ace on their sleeves as proper strat-calling and counter-strategies made sure that Macta did not have any breathing room in this map. With Aries “RAMSEVIENNE” Alde and Victor “mpoyisonfire” Fulache leading the charge, Wara won the map after winning it by a hair, 10-9.
Black Widow
There was no mercy for Wara this time as Christian “IAmRevenge” Amores and Aldrin Paul “AldrinPaul” Borabon showed why they were among the best Filipino CrossFire players alive. The match did not last long and eventually, Macta won the map, the match and the tournament in a very convincing way, thus allowing them to get another chance at representing the Philippines in the 2015 CrossFire Stars Grand Finals in Guangzhou, China.
Conclusions
Macta’s path was not easy as they had to deal with a team who fought to the end despite the fact that they were beyond their prime.
With these results, Macta got their second ticket to a Crossfire Stars grand finale – and once again, Pacific.Macta will appear in the podium by winning third place and showing the world why they were the best non-Chinese CrossFire team.
